Special Services
Specialty groups assist residents in processing specialized issues in a group setting with peers who share similar issues. These “specialty groups” are separate from your child’s primary groups, which address behavioral issues. The specialty groups vary according to individuals’ needs but usually include groups such as:
Addictions Awareness
Grief/Loss
Adoption
Divorce
Abuse Issues
The groups meet weekly and are facilitated by a trained therapist. In many of the groups, children progress through exercises in workbooks which thoroughly cover a given subject and initiate conversations and discussions. Over the years, we have found these specialty groups to be effective tools, serving as supplements to the program.
Additionally, residents and parents are provided with growth seminars and aftercare services. Englishton Park utilizes every aspect of the program to address the direct needs of residents and their families. In the therapeutic community, all members are involved in the goal of reuniting families.
